Goldi lox appetizer is one of my fav. The service was wonderful, atmosphere was very present don't know why one of the other review that said it was redidulously loud, should have turned down their miracle ear. Sigh Neighborhood is really up and coming. I would definitely order again! A few folks had entrees but most of us shared a mountain of small plates, entrees, and salads. I could have bathed in that!! Good lord it it was heaven.
It was not immediately apparent that all the items on the 8 course prix fixe menu were also available on the regular menu. The teasers were indeed, very good, but the duck that I had was perfectly cooked and brilliantly seasoned. Anderson previously worked at W. Just make sure you get a teaser. Otherwise, it was nicely paired with a salad.
We returned home and made ourselves a snack. We decided to share a pumpkin custard dessert which was divine. If you enjoy Moscow Mules, I would highly recommend the Smart Ass. One of us is vegan, however, and was only able to sample one of the appetizers. Thanks tor bringing life to the East Side! The chipotle hollandaise had just the right bite, the lox wasn't too salty as it so often can be , and the eggs were poached perfectly. My only regret is not ordering the cocktail flight. How cool are all of the mirrors in the front area.
Firat off, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. We ate so much we tragically had no appetite for dessert. However, they set the menu up so that its appropriate for the time it takes the food to come out. We ordered the loaded fries prior to the meal and they were delicious! To say the least it was amazing! All I wanted for my birthday was the tasting menu at Tongue In Cheek, and it lived up to the hype. No big deal and we didn't expect much other than just that; brunch. Definitely will be back to see the place and the atmosphere was very low key and not demanding enough to make you feel like you needed a suit to be there Let's just get it out of the way and acknowledge that this place is located in a really crappy neighborhood. The horseradish aioli was sublime.
We visited Gramercy Tavern in New York a month back and thought the food at Tongue in Cheek was almost on par with the quality and flavor. Also, plan on spending some time there as the food comes out pretty slow, which is generally okay if you are there for brunch. The clear-as-day Cross Eyed Mary had all the zest of a bloody mary without ever overwhelming with spice. This time it was 4 fried dumplings filled with mushrooms served on a delicious green sauce pea, maybe? Street parking was not very difficult to find and we were only a few blocks away. Although when I got the dish the hollandaise wasn't on the side, I still really enjoyed the dish because it wasn't swimming in the sauce. .
You ordered it based on the flavor profile, I chose spicy because our waitress said they made a good one. We sat in the back but next time I'm going to sit in front so I can admire them all. Parking was easy behind the restaurant even though there were signs warning for permit parking. But, the inside of the restaurant is awesome looking, the service was amazingly fast and friendly, and the food was quite tasty. Also the hot jam was quite standout. The Weekend at Bennies was equally as appetizing and both plates were gone within a matter of minutes.
All I know is that it was amazing. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful! The large plates were also the same issue. The dish was a symphony played by your tongue. We came here for our anniversary dinner. We shared tartar, which was delicious and the entrees included trout and pork. We asked if they served the full food menu in the bar area because this is not always the case at other establishments ; they do! I can't wait to go again and try something else on the menu. Artwork on the walls and decor are quite interesting, and I liked the tasteful arrangement of potted plants.
I loved how they had flight of their cocktails as an option. We had a flight of the teasers. I will also definitely recommend making a reservation as it was pretty busy as of 11:00 am. We split the libations and also had the cocktail flight That we shared. Not a single thing we weren't raving about. I felt so satisfied walking out of here. Police say the damage to the building is significant.
People commonly get the wrong idea about vegan cuisine and that it can't be filling or hearty. She agreed that I had the better of the two. The cocktail flight made for a great conversation piece and the starts were delicious. Our table ended up ordering the spicy fried chicken sandwich, pork belly ramen, and the vegasm. I would return and try something else or eat an entire entree of that fish. Really yummy, really great to look at, really overpriced. The service was great and the food was fantastic! Tongue in Cheek gets it.
I expected warm water in a coffee cup like most places. The waitress presented us with the special of the night which was trout on a bed of pureed cauliflower and fresh greens. It was so good I struggled to take my time over it. Awesome addition to the East Side and worth the drive from other parts of the metro!!! From start to finish, it was great. It all easily disappeared in one eager bite.
